![]() ![]() This is literally one of the first things the game tells you, as well as making a point of mentioning that this wouldn’t be so bad if not for the wiring and crossbeams inside the helmet, which would cause much ‘discomfort… and death’.įrom 12am to 6am, you have to keep an eye on the monitors and make sure the power doesn’t run out, because for some reason, the doors can only remain closed with power. It would be pretty easy to survive the night if not for the fact that you have a limited supply of power, and the animatronic mascots of the pizza place (Freddy and his pals) just so happen to be capable of walking around and if they find you, will, ‘think that you’re an endoskeleton and try to stuff you into a Freddy costume’. I’m told this is a key requirement for most jobs, but it’s pretty much the only one for this job. It’s a very simple mechanic – there’s no moving, you can’t leave your tiny, tiny office, and the only thing you have to do is, well, live. I’ve never seen anything like it, nor played anything like it. Let me start off by saying that I’m in love with the concept of this game. Another heads up is that next month is NaNoWriMo, and I can hardly function when I’m participating in NaNoWriMo, so production is always down in November, anyway.Īnyway! For my birthday, I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Five Nights at Freddy’s, although my current playtime sits at 8 minutes. So, instead of looking for inspiration, I’ve been waiting for inspiration to strike, and I don’t know how long it’s going to be like that, so hopefully you’ll bear with me for a while until I, hopefully, rediscover my love. There’s a lot of reasons, mainly because subjects are coming up slim lately, and the blog has been feeling like more of a chore than a pleasure, which is something I never wanted. It’s been about a month, now, and I’m now writing on a Thursday, which I haven’t done since… I haven’t ever done that. ![]() ![]() ![]() Second, the same motion closes a shutter inside the optical viewfinder to prevent stray light from entering and affecting either the Live View image or the exposure. First, it moves the mirror to reflect the light to the secondary sensor inside the pentamirror housing. Sliding that Live View switch forward does several things at once. When compared to the Sony A100, the Sony A350 has a new ISO button, and the mode dial has moved to where the Function dial used to be. This switch engages the Live View mode and may even move the front element of the Pentamirror forward. This LCD also swivels out away from the body to tilt down or up for easier overhead or low-angle shooting.Įssentially identical to the Sony A200, the top deck of the Sony A300 and A350 have one unique feature: the Live View/OVF (Optical ViewFinder) switch. Note the new battery indicator icon with the numerical percent-remaining display. The LCD is a little wider to match the 3:2 aspect ratio of the Sony A300 and A350's sensor. The button does nothing else in regular Record mode or Playback mode. Essentially, on the A350 it's cropping the image from a 14.2-megapixel image down to a 7.1-megapixel and 3.8-megapixel image, respectively without incurring the blur normally associated with digital zoom. ![]() ![]() According to Sony literature this gives the camera's 70mm kit lens the equivalent of a 200mm zoom. Active only in Live View mode, pressing this button first zooms the live view by approximately 1.4x, then to 2x. Anti-dust is also built in, with a static-free coating on the CCD's filter that is shaken each time the camera is powered off.Īnother new button on both the Sony A350 and A300 is the Smart Teleconverter 2x zoom button. Sony claims up to 3.5 stops of extra exposure with their body-based image stabilization system. Super SteadyShot stabilizes images with any lens mounted. Sony's new vertical battery grip (VG-B30AM) already announced for the Sony A200 also works with the new digital SLR cameras, duplicating many of the controls necessary for vertical shooting, and holds two InfoLITHIUM batteries, making all three cameras capable of shooting up to 1,500 shots.Įye-start Autofocus, also from the A100, starts up the autofocus system so the camera's ready before you even match your eye up to the viewfinder in most cases. It now reads "100%," in addition to displaying four bars to indicate battery status. The old battery icon has been augmented with a "percent remaining" indicator on the Sony A300 and A350. Like most other digital SLRs, the user deploys the flash with a button on the left side of the lens mount housing, by the big orange Alpha logo. Now these consumer cameras can deploy the flash in auto modes when necessary. The Sony A300 and A350 also have a new pop-up flash, rather than the old "pull-up" type. The same LCD-based function menu that appeared on the A200 earlier this year replaces the old dial-based function menu on the Sony A100, and many of the menu items and systems from the Sony A700 have made their way into the Sony A300 and A350. Shaped to better match the sensor's 3:2 aspect ratio, the Sony A200's 2.7-inch "Clear Photo" LCD has an anti-reflective coating for easy viewing in the sun, and 230,000 pixels, but the version on the A300 and A350 tilts up and down for easier viewing while shooting low or overhead. Autofocus in Live View is also as fast as it is in optical viewfinder mode, a major breakthrough among digital SLRs. Like the A200, Sony says that improvements to the A300 and A350's AF have made focus acquisition 1.7 times faster, thanks to the high-torque AF motor and improved AF sequence borrowed from the A700. While the A300 is essentially an A200 with an articulating LCD screen and Live View mode, the A350 also raises the resolution from 10 megapixels to 14.2 megapixels. Both incorporate a new Live View mode, with a unique mechanism that no one has yet tried: drawing an image from inside the optical viewfinder with a special tilting mirror. The more buzz-worthy news came with Sony's announcement of the Alpha A300 and A350 at PMA. Perhaps it was a feint, perhaps it was just a matter of introducing the right camera to the right audience, but Sony's Alpha A200 introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show early this year was a very minor upgrade to the A100. ![]() ![]() ![]() Throughout the course of this adventure, the Prince must decide what's truly important. Ubisoft also expertly balances Yuri's third Prince between two lines of starkly contrasting motivation, or the two thrones. Being back in Yuri's shoes just feels right. #818 was simply out of place in such a fairytale. The gruff, self-serving madman who sought to stop the Empress's Sands at any cost was not the young royal plagued by distrust and delusions of glory we all loved. Reforming the Prince into his original shape was a bloody good idea! Genteel as he is, Yuri Lowenthal's Prince of Persia in The Sands of Time is far preferable to Warrior Within's Wolverine Clone #818. His story will unwind backward and at once spring forward into a climatic choice between light and dark - the Two Thrones, one of self-serving indulgence and personal achievement, and the other of unbridled heroism despite consequence. Along the way the Prince will encounter old friends, older relations and new foes. But even champions are subject to the whims of fate. With his land besieged, his vessel burned, his woman bound, and his house in ruin, the Prince sets out to free his love, reveal his enemy, punish his rivals, and put his home to rights. Approaching his home port of Babylon with Empress Kaileena under arm and the Dahaka defeated, the Prince looks forward to rest and comfort, though the smoking ruin of his city will give him none. Narrated now by the somber and knowing Empress of Time in a way that neatly ties the end of Two Thrones to the beginning of Sands, this Prince's journey begins much like Warrior Within or Shadow and Flame, in sea and turmoil. Two Thrones also suffers slightly from an imposing holiday deadline and the preposterously lofty expectations fans of Sands carry with them at all times. And yet, while this third game offers so much indisputable greatness, it still grips tight to the failing philosophies of Warrior Within in just enough key areas. Vantage+Point Music, art, acting, acrobatics.story! Each universally applauded part of Ubisoft's first marvelous foray into the Sands of Time trilogy has been recreated here with care and cunning, save for the scarred and craggy, battle-hardened face of our champion. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is Sands of Time reborn. Boy does it ever feel good to be wrong! I'm dazzled. Sadly, it seemed back then that a title of Sands of Time's caliber would just not come, given the new path laid down by Warrior Within for the Prince series. A good rule of thumb is to understand when one more stroke is too many and when an excess of magic is drab. Indeed, an excess of scantily clad women, shadowy beasts and heavy riffs made Warrior Within ordinary, for when all is dark and grimy, even the dark and grimy become bright. In trying to appeal to more folks by lining the game with more stuff, much of the original magic was lost. But despite best efforts and a healthy dose of hard rocking, Warrior Within cheesily fell short of the amazingly high bar its predecessor set. ![]() Swords and shadows! Dirt and "bitches!" Warrior was to be Ubi's sinister, consumer friendly modification of the fundamental Sands mechanics that were ever so thrilling and critically acclaimed. ![]() To appease the lowbrow demands of 100 million casual gamers unwilling to spend cash for Ubisoft's brilliant Sands of Time game, the company took Warrior Within into the more digestible realm of "action" and away from the realm of "thinking-man's platformer." ![]() ![]() ![]() Accordingly, states retain different codes and values about wartime conduct. However, the Additional Protocols to the Geneva Conventions adopted in 1977 containing the most pertinent, detailed and comprehensive protections of international humanitarian law for persons and objects in modern warfare are still not ratified by several states continuously engaged in armed conflicts, namely the United States, Israel, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, and others. Every single member state of the United Nations has currently ratified the conventions, which are universally accepted as customary international law, applicable to every situation of armed conflict in the world. The Geneva Conventions are four related treaties adopted and continuously expanded from 1864 to 1949 that represent a legal basis and framework for the conduct of war under international law. ![]()

Tekken 8, when it finally arrives, should follow suit.Ī Japan-only arcade version is also likely to land before the game is available on home consoles and PC, as has been the case for most of Tekken‘s release history. However, the last couple of mainline entries did expand to Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and for the first time with Tekken 7, to PC. Traditionally, Tekken has been staunchly loyal to the various iterations of Sony’s PlayStation console when it comes to platforms. If we use this lull as a frame of reference, Tekken 8 could be released anytime between now and 2023. For example, there was a six-year gap between Tekken 6 and Tekken 7. Since then, Bandai Namco has staggered mainline game releases to make way for spin-offs and questionable crossovers with the likes of Pokémon. Nowadays, Bandai Namco releases Tekken games at a much slower rate compared to the halcyon days of the late 1990s to the early 2000s when the developer unleashed six Tekken games (and arguably the best in the series) in the period of 10 years, between 19. Tekken is so entrenched as a gaming brand that the mediocre critical response to Tekken 7 has had little to no impact on sales.Ī healthy Tekken 7 eSports microcosm helps as well, with Bandai Namco presumably keen to keep it going through the Tekken World Tour format and events like EVO Championship Series. With this in mind, coupled with the fact that the series is a long-running staple of the Japanese publisher’s catalog and Tekken 7 has sold over 3 million copies worldwide since its release, we can more or less guarantee Tekken 8 will be released at some point in the future. Previous entries have established the basic mechanics, aesthetic, and a foundation to the story, making work on a subsequent entry a rather straightforward operation relative to traditional game development cycles. ![]() In many ways, fighting games are the gift that keeps on giving releasing a new game doesn’t involve the same amount or type of work that goes into, say, an original action-adventure IP.
